Palakkad: A wild jumbo charged towards an RRT vehicle of the forest department in Attappadi. The incident took place in Paloor at 2.30 am on Friday.
The forest officials had reportedly arrived at the spot following information about a wild elephant roaming in the area.
The locals attempted to ward off the jumbo using torch lights and by making loud noises. Meanwhile, the elephant spotted the RRT vehicle and charged towards it.
Although the driver tried to give way for the animal, it did not turn away. Following which, the driver had to take the vehicle in reverse gear for about 2.5 km.
Paloor is a residential area located near a forest. A similar incident was reported in the area last month too.
