Wild elephant tramples Malayali forest watcher to death in TN

Chennai: A Malayali forest watcher died in a wild elephant attack in Nilgiris on Saturday night. Noushad, an Ambilimala native, was killed while on duty at Sea Fort estate in Nadukani.

Apart from that, Jamal, another forest watcher on duty, suffered serious injuries after falling into a gorge while fleeing from the elephant.

The forest watchers were attacked by a wild elephant named Balakrishnan from Muthalamada. The elephant chased them for almost one kilometre before trampling Noushad to death. Meanwhile, Jamal who suffered injuries was shifted to a government hospital in Gudalur. His condition remains critical.

The locals staged a protest with Noushad's body demanding measures to prevent wild animal attacks in the area. They also demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.
