Palakkad: A case of wild boar attack in broad daylight has been reported from Kandamangalam, a place near Palakkad’s Mannarkkad. The incident happened on Thursday as a wild boar dashed into a house of a woman named Chinnama.
The wild boar entered the house and hit Chinnama who was watching television. Her doors were open. Initially, she could not identify the animal. She escaped and locked herself up in another room. Later, when the animal rushed outside, Chinamma realized that it was a wild boar. George, who was working in the field, was reportedly attacked by the same wild boar. It toppled him, causing injury. It is learnt that injuries of both individuals are not serious.
According to the natives of Kandamangalam, their ordeal worsens as wild animal attacks are happening in the daylight too. They demand the intervention of authorities to ensure that preventive measures are in place. They also request the installation of solar-powered fences in the fringes near the forest area.
Notably, the Palakkad region has a grievous record of human-wildlife conflict. Recently, a person succumbed to injuries due to a wild boar attack.
