Kochi: Wife of missing Kochi central Circle Inspector V S Navas, claimed that he was mentally tortured by a senior official. Navas was forced to register fake cases. This mental torture led him to abscond, she said.
She demanded a case to be registered against the senior official. She has also filed a complaint with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
“No information regarding Navas is shared by the police. Even though I filed a complaint in this regard, didn’t get any proper reply,” Navas’ wife alleged.
Her reaction has put both the Kochi and state police in jeopardy.
Kochi city police commissioner IG Vijay Sakhare has submitted a report to the DGP in the missing case in which all the details are recorded. It also informed of a verbal spat between Navas and an officer in the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police through wireless on Wednesday night.
A special four-member team of the Kochi city police headed by DCP G Poonguzhali is probing the case based on a man-missing complaint filed by Navas’s wife. He will also probe whether any lapses occurred on part of the ACP.
Kochi Central Police Station Circle Inspector V S Navas was reported missing since Thursday morning allegedly after an argument with his senior officer over wireless set on Wednesday night.
Talking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram, state police chief Loknath Behera said the special team would trace the missing officer soon. “Hopefully, we will get him quickly,” Behera said.
The police chief said he would talk to Navas personally once he is traced to understand the situation that forced him to abscond.
