Widespread protests held across state demanding resignation of KT Jaleel
Kochi: The opposition and the BJP intensified their protests against the government after KT Jaleel was interrogated by Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. Protest marches were held across in different districts by the opposition parties and the BJP.
Protests marches were organised in front of the minister’s residence on Saturday despite heavy rain. Also, marches were organised by the Yuva Morcha and Youth League in various parts of Malappuram district.
Strong protests were organised in Thrissur, Kollam and Kottayam. As a result, police had to use water cannons against the protestors and had to forcefully remove them from the area.
Congress and BJP leaders had made it clear that the protests will continue until the minister resigned from his post. The police and the Yuva Morcha protestors clashed in front of the secretariat on Friday night which resulted in several workers getting injured. Protests took place outside Jaleel’s residence in Malappuram soon after he was interrogated by the ED.
KT Jaleel has not responded to the issue yet. He is currently staying at his residence in Malappuram. He had posted on his Facebook account that only truth shall prevail in the end.
