Thiruvananthapuram: Youth and student organizations of the opposition staged protests across the state demanding minister KT Jaleel’s resignation on Thursday. In many places, police used water cannons to disperse the protesters.

Youth Congress and Yuva Morcha organizations are in the forefront of the protests. The outfits staged protest in the wake of NIA interrogating minister KT Jaleel in Kochi office on Thursday.

Various youth organizations staged a protest march to the secretariat on Thursday. In Kollam and Kottayam, police resorted to water cannons after the KSU protest march turned violent.

Meanwhile, Youth Congress staged a protest march to Kochi NIA office where the minister appeared for interrogation. But the police blocked the protesters midway. Observing the protests, police have blocked all the roads to NIA office on Thursday morning itself.

In Kottayam, Yuva Morcha staged a protest march to SP office. Police blocked the protesters with barricades. As the Yuva Morcha activists continued to cross the barricades, police used water cannons to disperse them.

At the same time, police resorted to lathi-charge as some of the protesters managed to cross the barricade. These activists are still continuing protest here.
