Why is Chennithala annoyed over my general comment on corruption, asks Pinarayi
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan slammed Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala over his comments on KIIFB. Pinarayi said that Chennithala is trying to sensitize matters relating to KIIFB and his dreams on it would remain as such.
CM also commented on Chennithala’s comment on government food.
“I have had government food, but that was not because of corruption,” he said.
Why is Chennithala getting worked up over a general comment on corruption, CM asked.
“I didn’t speak on him (Chennithala). I only said that those who are corrupt should watch out. There would be no comprise on corruption, strict actions will be taken,” he added.
Earlier during the Pala by-election campaign, Ramesh Chennithala said that everyone knows Pinarayi Vijayan's role in the Lavlin case.
"He needn't threaten anyone as everyone knows his role in the Lavalin case and it's he who speaks of corruption. We are the least perturbed by his threats and very soon, we will all know about the Lavalin case," he said.
On Thursday, during the Pala Assembly by-election campaign, Pinarayi Vijayan, without naming former PWD minister Ebrahim Kunju over the Palarivattom flyover scam, said if that man doesn't behave, he will soon be eating government food (food served in prison) and the Left government will show no mercy to anyone, irrespective of who they are, if they are found to be corrupt.
Built at a cost of Rs 42 crore, the 750-metre flyover was supposed to serve for over 100 years. It was opened in October 2016 and within three years the flyover started crumbling and was shut for traffic.
Earlier this week, Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the flyover is going to be knocked down, with Metroman E. Sreedharan entrusted with building a new one.
