Gavi (Pathanamthitta): The government hospital in Gavi had a nurse two years ago. No one was appointed to the vacancy on her retirement. It has been neglected ever since and a permanant doctor is not available here as of now.
The hospital in the popular tourist location is situated inside the jungle. The pandemic time is passing without proper medical infrastructure for the natives. Cardamom plantation workers, tribals and tourists visit this hospital maintained by the Kerala Forest Development Corporation Ltd. They will have to now go to Vandiperiyar or Seethathodu.
The ambulance at the plantation does not ply anymore. There are no other transportation facilities either. They have to call vehicles from Vandiperiyar which is 35 kms away, the natives complain.
Dr J Vincent Xavier of the Seethathodu primary health centre occasionally makes a visit to the Gavi hospital.
Gavi is in the district of the health minister Veena George.
