Thrissur: Praveen Rana, accused in Rs 100-cr fraud case, had mentioned in the election affidavit during the Lok Sabha elections that he had wealth worth Rs 77.5 lakh. However, when police quizzed him on Thursday, he reportedly told them that he had only 55-cents of property in Palakkad.

Rana contested from the Wayanad and Thrissur constituencies in 2019 LS elections. As per the election affidavit, he had properties in three locations in Thrissur. He also had a bank balance of Rs 23 lakh and Rs 41 lakh-worth car.

He told police that he had transferred Rs 16 crore to a friend when the case was registered.

Interestingly, in 2019, he was an accused in a cheating case and had availed Rs 23 lakh car loan.

He has only Rs 1,000 with him now. He sold his wedding ring for Rs 25,000 to meet the expenses while hiding from police.
