When mudflow washed away hope of ten years' wait, little Mishab took his last breath
Meppadi: Muhammad Mishab fondly called as Chinnu was the apple of eyes of everyone at Puthumala in Meppadi. The four-year-old boy was the hope and dream of Shaukath and Muneera, the couple that runs a canteen here in the estate.
But the landslide that hit Meppadi in Wayanad the other day was so merciless that it claimed little Chinnu’s life. He had slipped off the hands that had held him and was washed away in the mud flow.
He was born to the canteen employees Shaukath-Muneera after ten years of wait.
When the extreme heavy rains receded a little, search operations were launched led by Red Cross members at the spot were the canteen had stood earlier.
His body was found among the debris that had accumulated here after the landslip.
As his body was taken out and shifted, wrapped in a blanket, the rain roared so high as to hide the screams of his beloved family.
