Alappuzha: The mustering of welfare pension in Akshaya centres and the distribution of food grains in ration shops was halted on Saturday due to server glitches. As per reports, the technical glitch occurred due to maintenance works in the Aadhaar server of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
The server went down at 10 am the previous day. It became functional around 1 pm but went down again at 4 pm. Reportedly, Aadhaar-based services were affected by the glitch and numerous pensioners, who came for mustering at Akshaya centres, had to wait for hours, but to no avail.
Furthermore, the distribution of ration was adversely affected and only 1,17,993 people were provided with grains at 14,163 ration shops. That is, on an average, a ration shop could provide food grains only to eight people.
Following this, leaders of the ration dealers’ organisation contacted the NIC authorities and came to know about the server glitch.
Meanwhile, the ration dealers’ organisations led by CITU expressed displeasure over carrying out maintenance activities on working days and warned to shut down the ration shops if the issue continues.
The welfare pension mustering through Akshaya centres began on April 1. Apparently, this is the second server glitch reported within a week.
