Thiruvananthapuram: The pattern of lockdown will be revised to effectively control the spread of Covid in the state. The decision is to implement lockdown according to the number of patients at the ward level. This will be implemented as data on the rate of infection is collected.
Covid tests will be conducted at airports to detect the infected people coming from foreign countries where the extremely deadly C.1.2 Covid variant has been detected. Remedial measures will be taken to quarantine them. The decision was taken during the weekly Covid review meeting headed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Corporations and municipalities are currently implementing lockdown at ward level. But the panchayats with the Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) above 7 are placed under complete lockdown. Covid test results and other information will now be collected at ward level in panchayats.
Chief Minister instructed that people aged above 60 years who haven’t received the vaccine must be inoculated immediately and that local bodies must initiate this drive. It must be ensured that the instruction to avoid teachers from sectoral magistrate job is being implemented. The teachers who are willing to take up the responsibility may be included.
