Meppadi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the worst affected districts of Malappuram and Wayanad from where 41 deaths have been reported in a series of landslides on August 8.
Addressing the flood-affected at a relief camp in Meppadi in Wayanad, Pinarayi Vijayan said, "the government is with you for everything. We need to overcome all difficulties and hardships together."
The Chief Minister added that the rescue operations are still progressing. There are many people who lost their family and properties. Survivors’ houses are severely damaged. Together all can overcome the problems, he assured.
Most of the people at the relief camp were affected by Puthumala landslide. After the visit, the CM went to Wayanad Collectorate for assessment meeting. Following this, the assistance for the victims will be declared.
Accompanied by ministers E Chandrasekharan, Kadannappalli Ramachandran and A. K. Saseendran, Kalpetta MLA C. K. Saseendran and Chief Secretary Tom Jose, the Chief Minister would also be visiting relief centres in Malappuram and hold discussions with people's representatives and officials.
