Kattikulam: The tiger which has been creating panic among the natives of Kurukkanmala in Mananthavady is continuing to evade the traps of the forest department. It is reported that the tiger had escaped from the village to the Begur forest and it was under surveillance of the Forest department since Saturday evening. The Forest Department was expecting to catch it by firing tranquillizer shots. But the team of officials failed to trace it even after carrying out massive searches in the forest.
Three groups with tranquillizers were searching for the tiger from Sunday morning onwards but could not find it. Its pugmarks were found in many places. Most of them assumed that the tiger will stray into the human settlements again. But it is assumed that the new pugmarks belong to some other tiger. A goat was kept as prey and the shooters hid patiently in the places where the pugmarks were found. More cameras have been kept in these areas.
Experts in tranquillizer firing from Muthumala Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu have also joined the team on Sunday. The tiger is expected to be weak as it is injured on the neck.
