Panamaram: A sounder of wild boars attacked a woman at Kayakunnu in Wayanad on Monday morning. Over 20 wild boars scurried off to Shyni when she was heading to 2nd Mile Junction, and attacked her from the rear.

The incident happened when Shyni was going to buy fish from the market. The locals who rushed to the spot shooed the wild boars away and took Shyni to the Community Health Centre in Panamaram. She was later referred to the Govt Medical College in Mananthavady as there were no facilities to take X-ray at the health centre. Bone bruises were found in the subsequent tests.

Though she was advised to consult the orthopedic doctor in the hospital, she could not consult the doctor as the latter left the hospital by noon. Later she had to undertake treatment at a private hospital, as the orthopedic department in Medical College remained closed the next day also.
