Wayanad NCC Battalion to be ready by April, says CM
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that the new battalion of National Cadent Corps (NCC) in Wayanad will start functioning from April. Two acres of land was allotted for this purpose.
Students from tribal community will be brought into the mainstream with the launch of the new battalion here, the CM said while inaugurating NCC Annual celebrations here on Monday.
He appreciated the participation of students in Kerala NCC which is 42 percent. He pointed out that with NCC, number of women officials will be increased.
Chief Minister received guard of honour from NCC cadets at the programme. Cultural programmes were staged.
Cadets performed horse riding under the leadership of Lt.Col Deenadayal, commanding officer of NCC at Mannuthy Veterinary College. A team under Kerala Air Wing NCC commander SK Menon showered flowers from microlight aeroplane.
Additional director General Major Anoop Kumar V presided over the programme. Brigadier BG Jagadish and Brigadier VP Haykwad attended the programme.
