Mananthavady: A man who became unconscious atop a tree died in hospital later. Pilakavu native Rameshan (46), a worker at Parison’s estate, was identified as the deceased. The accident happened at noon on Friday.

Rameshan climbed one of the trees in his neighbour's plot to cut off branches hanging dangerously over their houses. Rameshan was trapped on the tree for almost an hour as he fell unconscious after climbing it. The locals who arrived at the spot supported his back to prevent him from falling off the tree. The fire and rescue services from Mananthavady arrived at the scene, brought him down and took him to Government Medical college in Wayanad. He was then rushed to Government Medical College in Kozhikode for expert treatment but passed away in the evening.

Wife: Saritha, Children: Akshaya, Abhinav. He is son of late Prabhakaran and Devaki. Siblings: Sandhya, Sabitha. The cremation was held on Saturday.
