Mananthavady: Four policemen were suspended for approaching a house in the late hours of the night. A team comprising of SI of Pullapally police station reached a house in Thirunelli at an inopportune time for a case. SI KS Jitesh, ASI CV Thankachan, Senior Civil Police Officer VJ Saneesh, Civil Police Officer N Shihab were suspended pending an investigation by the Kannur Range DIG Rahul R Nair.
The incident took place last Sunday. The four policemen arrived at a house around 1 am after attending a police officer's wedding. The police informed the family that they had come to issue a summons as part of a case. At the time of the incident, only the elderly parents and a daughter were at home at the time. Their son and son-in-law had gone to attend a nearby wedding. The four men in the police jeep were not in uniform. They even made the place dirty by rubbing their feet with dirt inside the house. The housewife contacted the district police chief.
The action was taken against the police following a report submitted by the district police chief to the Kannur Range DIG.
