Kannur: In a bizarre mishap, a lorry caught fire while on the move near the Muzhappilangad Toll Booth in Kannur district on Tuesday evening. The lorry laden with paint was going towards Thalassery from Kannur and was completely destroyed in the fire.
The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained. There were 2 persons inside the lorry at the time of the mishap. When they saw smoke emanating from the rear side of the lorry, they abandoned the vehicle and fled. The lorry was completely gutted down in the fire and traffic was disrupted on the road.
The Fireforce personnel reached the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of Edakkad and Dharmadam police. A major mishap was averted due to the driver’s timely intervention.
