Palakkad: Mannarkkad traffic police has slapped fine on a private bus operator for taking the vehicle through a flooded bridge in Nellipuzha here. The risky drive of bus carrying 35 passengers happened on Friday. The visuals of the same surfaced on social media and were widely shared. The officials intervened and initiated action against the bus operator.
The water levels in the region were high due to rains and Njettarakkadavu-Pombra was partially submerged. The bus can be seen approaching in a dangerous manner posing risk not only to the passengers but also pedestrians crossing the bridge.
It is learnt that the bus took the risky trip without the consent of the commuters. The operator has been booked under charges of driving the vehicle intentionally in a dangerous manner. The Motor Vehicle Department too has intervened.
Reportedly another jeep tailgated the bus to cover the stretch and the vehicle owner too has been slapped with penalty.
