Kottayam: A policeman stole around 10kg of mangoes from a store in Kanjirapally at midnight. The act was caught on camera and the officer is reportedly on the run.

The accused, Shihab, a civil police officer of AR Camp, was returning home after duty at midnight on September 28. He stopped his scooter in front of the shop and after realising there was no one nearby, he started to put mangoes from the box that was kept outside the shop to the space under the seat of his scooter. Meanwhile, Shihab frequently checked his surroundings.

After filling the space on scooter, he left the place.

Police could not initially identify the person as he had worn a helmet and raincoat. However, the vehicle number was recognizable, which led to Shihab. He is a Mundakayam native.
