Walayar victims' mother tonsures head and protests for justice
Walayar: The mother of the two minor girls, who hanged themselves in their makeshift house at Attappalam in Walayar after being sexually assaulted in 2017, tonsured her head as a way of protest demanding action against police officials who committed lapses in the probe.
Social activists Bindu Kamalan and Saleena Prakkanam also tonsured their heads to express solidarity to the protest.
Alathur MP Ramya Haridas, Mahila Congress leader Lathika Subhash and others were present at the protest venue to ensure justice to the girl’s mother.
The victim’s mother asked if the government is turning a blind eye to the protest. Many protests were held by various social outfits and the government had turned a blind eye to all this. She also wanted protests to be held in all 14 districts. SI Chacko and DySP Sojan must be punished, the victim’s mother reiterated.
