Walayar rape case: Culprits escaped due to lapses in police investigation, alleges Public Prosecutor
Palakkad: Special Public Prosecutor Lata Jayaraj alleged that the real culprits of Walayar Rape case could evade punishment because of the lapses in police investigation. She told Mathrubhumi News it was not the job of a prosecutor to find evidences and that there were many loopholes in the charge sheet.
"The court had said that the prosecution could not prove the case. Here the prosecution means the police. Everyone knows what lapses had occurred from the part of police. They were constantly demanding to remove me from the case. Later, they approached me as was there was no action from the Home Ministry," she said.
Lata also said that she had not approved the charge sheet.
Police did not investigate the suspicions raised in the autopsy report. Police have ignored the crucial findings of the autopsy report. She also claimed that she appeared for the case only after the charge sheet was filed and she has provided all the evidences before the court.
Lata Jayaraj also said that she has nothing to say to those political leaders who placed the blame on her for the court's verdict.
