Walayar case: Hartal commences in Palakkad
Palakkad: The hartal called by the United Democratic Front demanding CBI probe into the incident of acquittal of accused in the rape and death of two minor sisters in Walayar, commenced today morning in Palakkad. The 12-hour hartal is from 6 am to 6 pm.
Private vehicles mainly two wheelers are plying on the roads. Shops in Palakkad city and premises are keeping shut. However, some shops near Olavakkode railway station are opened. Also some taxis are conducting services near the station.
Emergency services including milk and newspaper will not be interrupted. Vehicles will not be stopped forcefully. Also, shops won’t be shut forcefully. Only an observance of hartal will take place.
Congress district committee has asked everyone to cooperate with the hartal.
Meanwhile, the Karimbuzha-I village has been exempted from the hartal considering the festival at Kottappuram Thiruvalayanad Bhagavathy Temple.
