Bengaluru: Swapna Suresh, the main accused in a gold smuggling case, has responded to a defamation case filed against her by CPM state secretary MV Govindan at the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Taliparamba.

In a Facebook post, Swapna challenged Govindan to face her in court. She also urged Govindan to file a case in the civil court and demand compensation of Rs 10 crore, after paying the court fee.

Swapna said in the FB post that Govindan can scare her with a case only in dreams.

In the petition, Govindan sought to press charges of criminal conspiracy and defamation against Swapna for making “false accusations” against her during a Facebook live video.

Swapna ended her latest Facebook post with an attempt to jibe the senior CPM leader with the remark, “This time it's only in Malayalam, as it is only for Mr. MALAYALEE Govindan, I want him to understand my message very clearly!!!!!”
