Thiruvananthapuram: Giving relief to workers under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the centre has sanctioned Rs 1511 crore to Kerala to meet the wage arrears of the workers. The centre has granted the fund following the frequent interventions of the chief minister in the issue.
The CM’s office informed that the wage arrears will be distributed to all workers once the state government receives the fund.
The wage to the workers were not paid since last five months. The delay in wage affected large number of families in the state.
The LDF led government in Kerala had criticised the centre over the failure to distribute wage to the MGNREGS workers. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had alleged that centre is playing dirty politics by delaying the payment of wage arrears to the workers.
