Kochi: A running car caught fire and was completely charred in Vyttila here on Wednesday. The incident happened at around 4.30 pm. There are no reported injuries, but the locals say that the Fire and Rescue Services were late to arrive at the scene. The car that caught fire was a Maruti Suzuki 800.

The Fire and Rescue Services was almost half an hour late when they arrived at the scene, said the natives. The passengers were quick to get out of the car seeing the smoke. The accident happened below the Vyttila Flyover.

The car is old, but the reason for the fire remains unknown.
