Palakkad: Senior Communist leader VS Achuthanandan will not contest the Assembly election from Malampuzha this time. VS Achuthanandan contested from Malampuzha constituency from 2001. Everybody is looking at who will replace VS in Malampuzha.
It has been over a year since the former Chief Minister visited his constituency due to ill health. Malampuzha is a constituency where CPM has never lost an election. EK Nayanar has also contested from this constituency. KSU state president VS Joy stood against VS Achuthanandan last time.
It is not clear whether VS Achuthanandan will suggest a name here for the Assembly election. The names of CPM state committee members NN Krishnadas, MB Rajesh are being discussed in this regard.
