Kozhikode: Husband in one place, wife in another place, children somewhere else: the renewal of voters’ list in Kerala is messed up in such a manner. Notably, there is no specific order in which names appear in voters’ list.
The method is so unsystematic such to ensure all members in a family are included, the entire list need to be scrutinized.
The problem is due to software issue. Instead of Keltron, C-DIT was assigned the work. Many are applying for inclusion and rectification in the list. Due to the disorganised voters' list, booth-level officers and political parties are troubled.
Usually in the list, names of all members of the family appear together or close to one another. However this time, the list was prepared by officials in different sections without the help of technically qualified staff. This has contributed towards the mess up.
Keltron officials use to help election officials. However, following last elections their help was not sought. As the officials were strictly restricted from not seeking their help, those unaware of the method faced the heat. However, it is learnt that to avail C-DIT's help, there would be a delay of minimum one week.
If the ordering cannot be done with the existing draft list, then the present list will continue till the renewal is done.
