Voter turnout in Kerala assembly polls remains unknown; CEO office closed after staff test COVID +ve
Thiruvananthapuram: The State Election Commission has not published the final polling percentage of the Kerala assembly polls yet. It is learned that the commission failed to publish the percentage as the Chief Electoral Officer’s office was closed after some employees tested positive for COVID-19.
According to reports, three employees tested positive for the virus infection on Thursday. Following this, the CEO office was closed. The office will remain closed on Friday too. Hence, the officials are working from home.
The CEO office is functioning at the assembly building complex.
So far, the state recorded 74.04 percent polling which was reported on Tuesday night. This percent only includes the votes polled at the booths. Postal votes are not added to it.
Postal votes (service votes) of officials and other voters in the allowed categories will be received till counting day. Hence, the commission would not be able to assess these votes and declare final polling percentage.
