Kaalikavu (Malappuram): Humanity is more valuable than religion and caste. The members of SKSSF Viqaya have proved this by actively involving in COVID services. They have already arranged funeral of 70 COVID victims who belong to different religions according to their respective customs.
When even the relatives of the deceased refuse to come near the body, these people came forward to conduct the funeral ceremony. With this, the body of patients were buried according to the wishes of their families.
The 25-member team did not receive any remuneration for the service. The financially sound families provide PPE kits for safety. But they do not expect anything in return from the poor families. The team members bear all expenses of the ceremony.
A total of 49 bodies were buried under the leadership of Viqaya activist Kalikavu native Kabeer Maliyekkal alone. Nasar Palakkalvetta has dedicated his jeep for dropping Viqaya activists at the houses of COVID patients.
Kabeer Maliyekkal, Rasheed Faizy, Sharafudheen Faizy, Muneer Faizy, Musthafa and Nasara are part of a team. Rain or shine, Viqaya activists are engaging in funeral ceremonies wearing PPE kits.
