Vizhinjam: The ongoing protests under Latin Archdiocese against the Vizhinjam port has intensified in Thiruvananthapuram. When the protests entered the seventh day, the demonstrations have spread from land to sea also. The protesters trespassed onto the premises where construction activities were proceeding after breaking the lock of the main gate.

Protesters pulled down the barricades placed by the police here. Hundreds of fisherfolk arrived at Vizhinjam by foot and on boats via sea route and headed to the construction area.

Currently, the protesters have encircled the land area of the project site and the sea bridge here. The protests are proceeding under Poonthura parish.
