Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala minister for ports Ahamed Devarkovil on Thursday said that he is ready to hold a meeting with those protesting against the Vizhinjam port. "The protesters can visit me any time to discuss the issue," he told mathrubhumi.com.
"I will hold talks with the protesters only if the demands tabled by them are discussed in the cabinet meeting on April 24," he said.
Minister also dismissed the allegations that the construction of Vizhinjam port led to coastal erosion in the area.
"Every project is implemented after proper study in the selected area. Here, the project was launched based on the report of the IIT Madras and several other agencies," he added.
He also asked why protesters are now raising the issue despite agreeing to it initially. Earlier, similar issues raised by the locals and people's representatives were addressed by us and solved promptly. Despite these efforts, a protest is continuing there, he added.
