Vizhinjam Expert Summit: Tharoor backs out, CM likely to skip

Thiruvananthapuram: MP Shashi Tharoor will not participate in the Vizhinjam Expert Summit, a seminar organised by the state government to defend the protests and allegations related to the Vizhinjam seaport construction. Shashi Tharoor has decided to boycott the event by alleging that the government had failed to compromise the protests.

The seminar will be conducted in the absence of representatives from the opposition. It has been hinted that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not participate in the seminar as he is currently undertaking Ayurvedic treatment.

The seminar which will be attended by experts will discuss the scientific aspects of the Vizhinjam port project. Through the seminar, the government plans to highlight Vizhinjam port as a dream project of the state.

The panel will include ministers and experts from the National Institute of Oceanography and the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.
