Advocate G Mohanraj- DySP P Rajkumar

Kollam: The court here found Kiran Kumar, husband of Vismaya who committed suicide due to dowry abuse, guilty. The two main pillars whose conduct turned crucial in the case are DySP P Rajeev Kumar and special public prosecutor G Mohanraj. In fact, it is the cohesive efforts of the prosecution that lead to submission of digital evidence and witness statements before the court. Their interventions resulted in proving the accused guilty.

Rajeev Kumar who promptly investigated the case under the supervision of south zone IG was able to submit the chargesheet within 80 days. The chargesheet pointed out that it is the arrogance and ego of the accused that forced Vismaya to end her life. The chargesheet had ample evidence to substantiate that claim. Though the accused destroyed evidence in the victim’s phone, the police retrieved it from friends and family members to whom she had shared her plight. Rajeev Kumar earlier had made headlines for nabbing the main accused in the Suryanelli case, who fled to Karnataka.

Meanwhile, Mohanraj who is an advocate under Kollam Bar Association has the experience of dealing with many cases that rocked Kerala. He was prosecutor in the Uthara murder case, Aadu Antony case, Kottayam SME ragging case, Avaneeswaram hooch tragedy case, Harippad Jalaja murder case, Foreigner Ligha’s death case and Abhimanyu murder case.
