Cheruthoni: The entry of visitors to the Idukki dam was hindered on Saturday when the metal detector at the entrance was taken by the police. The visitors had to stand in queue for hours. At last, the metal detector was brought back from police with the intervention of Minister Roshy Augustine.

The DFMD machine that was available here for safety check got damaged in a lightning last month. The dam authority has not received the DFMD machine yet, which was sent for repair to Ernakulam.

By this, the authorities borrowed a small metal detector used by the police for VIP duty to carry out safety inspection on visitors. But, the police took the metal detector back on Saturday. Minister Roshy Augustine who was passing by, intervened and directed to bring back the metal detector.
