KU Jenish Kumar
Pathanamthitta: MLA Adv KU Jenish Kumar, who faced flak after he visited Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayur, shrugged off the controversy and alleged that some people are attempting to create unnecessary issues.
Jenish Kumar MLA said that he and MLA Pramod Narayanan had visited the temple to attend a wedding ceremony of a friend. “When I reached there, I followed the rituals of the temples,” said Jenish.
He noted that his wife herself had shared the picture of the temple visit on social media. A few people are consciously attempting to spark controversy, he noted.
A picture of CPM leader and Konni MLA Jenish Kumar, captured at Guruvayur temple, along with family and Kerala Congress (M) MLA Pramod Narayanan had erupted a fresh row here. In the picture, he was found wearing a ‘melmundu’ (dhoti covering the upper body) and sandal paste on his forehead, which are the typical ritualistic practices followed while visiting temples.
Jenish was criticised for violating the CPM central committee’s guidelines that restrict the party leaders and office bearers from being involved in religious beliefs and allied activities.
Earlier, party veterans EP Jayarajan, Kadakampally Surendran and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had also faced brickbats following their families’ temple visits.
