Vishu bumper: Kanyakumari natives hit jackpot worth Rs 10 cr

Thiruvananthapuram: The winner of the Rs 10 cr Vishu bumper lottery has finally turned up at the lottery department office here on Monday. According to reports, a doctor from Kanyakumari and his relative won the first prize. Dr Pradeep and his relative Ramesan reached here on Monday with the first prize-winning lottery ticket.

Dr Pradeep Kumar is a government employee in Tamil Nadu. Pradeep and his relative took the lottery when they reached Thiruvananthapuram to see a relative off at the airport.

Pradeep Kumar and Ramesan handed over the winning lottery ticket to the lottery department director on Monday. After deducting tax, they will get Rs 6 cr and 16 lakh.

Addressing Mathrubhumi News, Dr Pradeep revealed that they came to know about the lottery results through Mathrubhumi daily. Talking about the delay to surrender the lottery ticket, the duo said that they didn’t get time to travel to Kerala immediately after the results come out.

Dr Pradeep Kumar and Ramesan are natives of Manavalakurichi in Kanyakumari.

After hitting the jackpot, they expressed their wish to settle their financial liabilities with the money. They also thanked God for bringing fortune into their life.

“ We used to take lottery. Earlier, we had won small prizes too. It is for the first time, that we are winning such a huge amount,” added Dr Pradeep Kumar.
