Kannur: Vishnupriya, allegedly murdered by her ex-lover at her home near Panur, was speaking with her friend through WhatsApp when the accused attacked her. She was talking with a Ponnani native seconds before Shyamjith confronted her.

The police team, which examined the call details, identified the Ponnani native and approached him. He told Police that Vishnupriya screamed Shyamjith's name before the call was disconnected. This was a crucial breakthrough in the case, and the subsequent investigation led to the accused.

Meanwhile, the post-mortem procedures of Vishnupriya will conclude on Sunday. Later, the body will be brought to her native place for the funeral by evening.

Police will also collect evidence from the house along with Shyamjith. The 23-year-old was found dead in a pool of blood with a slit throat and deep wounds on her neck and hands at her residence on Saturday noon.

Later, Police arrested the accused Shyamjith, a 25-year-old native of nearby Manantheri, within hours of the gruesome murder. Vishnupriya was alone at the house when the incident happened as the family members were away in connection with a ritual.
