Virtual queue app ready; liquor sale to resume in state on Wednesday or Thursday


The state government is of the stand that the liquor sale should be resumed only after completing all procedures.

Thiruvananthapuram: The liquor shops which were closed due to the COVID lockdown in the state will reopen on Wednesday or Thursday. The virtual queue app for buying liquor in parcel has been prepared.

As per reports, a trial run of the virtual queue will be conducted on Tuesday. The state government is of the stand that the liquor sale should be resumed only after completing all procedures.

A start-up company called 'Faircode Technologies' in Kochi created the app. Liquor sale will resume only after ensuring efficiency of the app through trial run on Tuesday.

The order that allows to buy liquor in parcel from bars was issued the other day. The government has handed over to the Governor the ordinance to increase liquor tax. The procedures including the Governor's nod for the ordinance are yet to be completed.
