The picture of Ajith that went viral on social media
Pathanamthitta: A picture of a police officer smiling after being hit by a stone hurled at him amid an AIYF district committee march had gone viral on social media. The picture attracted public attention as it depicted the cop smiling even after sustaining severe bleeding on his face. AIYF was conducting a march to protest against the Centre's Agnipath scheme.
It was the picture of civil police officer Ajith from the Pathanamthitta DYSP office that went popular on social media. Ajith is a Thiruvanathapuram- Palode native.
The photo which was published in Mathrubhumi was posted on Facebook page of the Kerala police too.
Ajith said that the police team deployed did not expect any violence during the AIYF march and had not resorted to any provocative actions. The stone had been hurled at him when the protesters were attempting to knock down the barricades.
Even after being hit by the stone, Ajith tried to conceal this from others. However, his mouth started to bleed and his face was also bleeding. The protesters were also shocked to see this and they looked sympathetic thereafter, said Ajith. According to him, even the AIYF activists were puzzled and this urged him to break into a sudden smile.
