Violence mars Youth Congress-KSU march; Police lathicharge protesters
Thiruvananthapuram: The Youth Congress-KSU march to the secretariat ended in clashes. The party workers pelted stones, sticks and bottles at the police and the police also used lathi charge, grenade and tear gas against the protestors. Mathrubhumi Online cameraman Praveen Das sustained head injury in the stone pelting.
Though the police used water cannons against the protestors, they did not leave the place. They started provoking the police which ended up in lathi charge. Some protestors started pelting stones at the police and the police beat them up and used tear gas and grenade in return.
Many protestors and policemen also sustained injuries. The march was conducted demanding probe into the clashes in the University College. KSU state president K. M. Abhijith and others are staging a hunger strike in front of the secretariat demanding the same. As grenades were thrown at the protest venue, they were shifted to hospital.
