Violence in Panoor: Protest against arrest of League workers


Case was charged against 14 Youth League workers in connection with this. The party workers claimed that all of them are innocents and surrounded the police station demanding to release them.

Kannur: A protest was staged here on Thursday when the Muslim League workers, who were named accused in the violent incidents occurred in Panoor the other day, were being taken to the court. The League workers created blockade in Chokli police station. They also blocked the vehicle in which the accused were being taken.

Violence was unleashed in Panoor region after the funeral of Mansoor, the Muslim League worker who was murdered. Case was charged against 14 Youth League workers in connection with this. The party workers claimed that all of them are innocents and surrounded the police station demanding to release them.

Later, the party workers ended the protest. Olavallur police also had nabbed League workers in connection with the violence. Cases were booked against a total of 21 League activists in all places.

Only one person was arrested in connection with the murder of Mansoor. There are 11 accused in the case. The police informed that others will be nabbed soon. League workers alleged that the police are taking action in a biased manner.
