Kochi: Actor-producer Vijay Babu, who is accused of sexual abuse by a former colleague, has sought time to appear before the police for questioning. He said he is on a business tour and will be back only by May 19 in the reply to the police notice. He sent the reply via email.

However, the police told him that the exception cannot be provided and asked the actor to turn up immediately.

Vijay has not mentioned where he is at present. He left for Dubai via Bengaluru airport on April 24.

Police have collected evidence to prove the presence of the actor and the survivor in the locations stated in the complaint. The case is prima facie valid, police have said.

A former colleague of Vijay Babu accused him of sexual misconduct offering more opportunities in the industry. He abused her multiple times, she stated in the complaint. Vijay, following the allegations, took to his social media to clarify his version on the matter. However, he revealed the name of the survivor, leading the police to register one more case against him. Another woman has also alleged that Vijay tried to kiss her once.
