Kochi: Police officials probing the sexual assault against actor-producer Vijay Babu said the actor fled to Dubai on April 24. The cops said Babu moved abroad in the wake of complaint lodged against him.
Meanwhile, City Police here has issued a look-out notice for the actor-producer. The objective is to arrest him once he lands and police have intimated all airports.
Initially, police team reached Goa based on clues that Babu was staying there. However, he had left the place by then.
The police will record the statements from witnesses based on the locations of alleged sexual assault mentioned in the complaint. The officials are also planning to record statements from Babu’s friends.
The accused needs to be questioned under custody, the police said. If Babu is not coming back, then police need to look for alternatives to bring him back. In this regard, the police will likely approach other agencies.
It is learnt that Babu is trying to get anticipatory bail.
Babu has been charged for alleged sexually assaulting a female actor and disclosing the survivor's identity through a Facebook live session.
The woman, who appeared in movies produced by Vijay Babu's production house, filed a complaint with the police on April 22 and detailed through a Facebook post the physical assault and sexual exploitation she had suffered at the hands of the producer-actor for the past one-and-a-half months.
