Ernakulam: A vigilance probe against former IT secretary M Sivasankar is on cards. Vigilance director has forwarded a complaint filed by an Ernakulam native to the government seeking permission for probe. The complaint was filed by Chesyer Tarzan.
The complainant has sought a probe into the appointment of gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh and the issues centering around the IT department among others. But if a preliminary investigation is to be initiated against any IAS official then the government permission must be obtained. Hence the vigilance director had forwarded the complaint to the governemnt.
The appointment of Swapna Suresh and the issues revolving around the IT department is mired in controversy and Chesyer Tarzan had forwarded his complaint even to the Central Vigilance Commission.
Earlier opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala too has requested a probe and handed over a letter to the government. A preliminary investigation could be ordered only if the government feels there is any substance in the complaint and a vigilance case can be booked.
