Staff of Nemom sub-registrar office caught red handed while taking bribe of Rs 3000

Nemom: Vigilance nabbed an employee of Nemom sub-registrar officer while receiving bribe on Tuesday. Last-grade officer Sreeja was arrested with Rs 3000, soon after she collected the bribe from the office.

The Vigilance officials had taken action based on the complaint lodged by Kalliyoor native Suresh. The complainant had to change the ownership rights of his father’s property which he received as gift deed. He visited the sub registrar's office on Saturday and requested to grant the required copy of documents as he has no original documents with him. However, the sub-registrar informed him to give Rs 3000 to Sreeja for immediate action on his request.

Suresh passed this information to Vigilance and went to the sub-registrar office with the currency notes entrusted by Vigilance. A team of Vigilance officers turned up immediately after Sreeja received the currencies from Suresh. Following this, the team also inspected the residence of the sub-registrar Santhosh in Kudappanakunnu.

The team comprised vigilance southern range DySP CS Vinod, Jayakumar T, inspectors Aswini, Nisam, Dinesh Kumar; sub-inspectors Sunil, Khader, and Unni; and SCPO Kannan.
