Very heavy rain predicted in Kerala; Orange, yellow alerts in various districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rain in Kerala for the next five days. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in various districts.

The IMD has issued an orange alert in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on June 14. According to the forecast, heavy or Very heavy rain is likely in the state.

Districts where yellow alert is sounded

June 12: Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod.

June 13: Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod.

As heavy rainfall was experienced in some places in the previous days, people living in low-lying areas, river banks and landslide-prone hilly areas are directed to stay vigilant.
