Venjaramoodu twin murder: Probe against INTUC leaders who allegedly helped accused escape
Thiruvananthapuram: Police are conducting investigations based on INTUC workers in connetion with the murder of two DYFI activists at Venjaramoodu here.
The police are investigating against INTUC local leader Unni and his brother Sanal. Police are examining the involvement of the brothers in planning the murder and helping the accused escape from the spot.
Police suspect a major conspiracy behind the twin murder. Unni has been accused in criminal cases earlier. Police suspect that Unni and Sanal were involved in the murder and that they helped the accused escape.
Vembayam native Mithilaj and Haq Muhammad were hacked to death around midnight on Sunday. The accused waylaid the two DYFI activists who were travelling on a bike at Thempammoodu and hacked them to death. Shahin, who had accompanied the two, managed to run away from the spot with minor injuries.
The CPI (M) had alleged that Congress was behind the murder.
The investigation is led by the Attingal DySP. Police have arrested Shajith, a Congress activist, in connection with the twin murder. Shajith, one of the main accused in the crime, was arrested from a timber mill. Officials said that four more accused are to be arrested.
Police are searching for a congress worker named Velli Sajeev, the suspected main accused in the case. CPI (M) leaders had alleged that Sajeev was behind the murders. It is unclear if Sajeev holds any posts in Congress party. He was involved in all the clashes between CPI (M) and Congress in the region ealier.
