Thiruvananthapuram: Congress has alleged that the twin murder at Venjarammoodu was a result of discord between factions within the CPI (M).

Addressing a press conference, Congress leaders M. M. Hassan, Palod Ravi and Sabarinath displayed CCTV footage of the attack.

Mithilaj and Haq Muhammed initially tried to hack people on the opposing side. First, they attacked Sajeev, who is the first accused in the case. Two other DYFI activists were present there, the Congress leaders said.

“There were four bikes and around 12 people at the spot. All of them were carrying weapons. The police are not saying anything about this,” the Congress leaders alleged.

The Congress leaders alleged that the two other DYFI activists present at the spot were Shaheen and Appoos. They clarified that Shaheer was not the one one who is a witness in the case.

“There is a long standing dispute between Rahim and D. K. Murali within the party. This resulted in the murder,” the Congress leaders said.

They also clarified that Sajeevan did not have any connections with Congress and that they did not know if he was a DYFI activist.
